How Money Train 3 works

  • Declared ceiling of 100,000 times the stake.
  • Money Cart round with reels entirely different from the base game.
  • More than twelve special symbol types that interact with each other.
  • Spin resets allow the round to extend almost indefinitely.

The total bet is what matters, not any per-line figure. The studio tunes symbol weights and paytable values to hit the published return over the long run.

This is not a recommendation

We publish technical data, not playing advice. RTP values come from the developer's documentation; an operator may deploy a different configuration, so check the figure inside the game's own info panel. Gambling can be addictive — only ever stake money you can afford to lose.

The one game where buying the bonus raises the published return

The standard advice is that a feature buy never improves your expected return. On Money Train 3 that advice is wrong, and Relax Gaming says so itself: the base game runs at 96.10%, while every one of the four feature buys is published at 96.50%.

The four purchase options cost 20x, 50x, 100x and 500x the stake. They differ in what you get — one, two or three respins to start the Money Cart round, and at 500x a randomly selected persistent symbol guaranteed from the outset. The published return is the same 96.50% on all four.

Two things that follow, and they pull in opposite directions. The return on a purchased round is 0.4 points better than on a spun one, which is real. But a 20x purchase commits twenty spins' worth of stake to one high-variance event, and a 500x purchase commits five hundred. Turnover, not house edge, is what empties a balance at this volatility. A better rate on a far larger bet is not automatically a better position.

The sequel has a lower published return than its predecessor

Money Train 2 was published at 98%, one of the highest figures ever attached to a mainstream slot. Money Train 3 publishes 96.10%. The ceiling doubled — 50,000x to 100,000x — and the return dropped almost two full points.

That trade is the clearest example in this catalogue of what sequels actually sell. Nothing was taken away in features: the third game adds the Respin feature to the base game and three new modifier types to the bonus. What changed is where the money sits. More of the expected return is parked in outcomes that arrive rarely, and the total pot is smaller than it was in the previous game.

What the 100,000x cap actually is

It is a hard stop written into the rules, not an estimate. If the running total of a game round exceeds 100,000x the bet, the round ends immediately and 100,000x is paid. On a game built around persistent symbols that keep multiplying across respins, that is a rule you can actually hit rather than a theoretical ceiling — several players reportedly reached it in the first days after release, though Relax Gaming does not publish verification of individual wins.

At the maximum stake of 10 units, the cap is 1,000,000. At the minimum of 0.10, it is 10,000. The cap scales with the bet; the probability of reaching it does not change with it.

Two games in one, and the second one is where the money is

The base game is a conventional 5x4 grid with 40 fixed paylines, plus a Respin feature that can trigger on non-winning rounds and makes one symbol type sticky. The Money Cart bonus is a different game entirely: a separate grid that can unlock up to two extra reels, populated by more than a dozen special symbol types that act on each other.

  • Collector symbols gather the values of other cash symbols.
  • Payer symbols push their own value into other positions.
  • Sniper and Tommy Gun variants multiply specific targets rather than the whole grid.
  • Persistent versions survive between respins and keep acting every round.
  • Absorber removes ordinary cash symbols after taking their values, which can shrink a board that looked promising.

Respins reset whenever a new symbol lands, so a round has no fixed length. This is why the reported hit frequency of roughly one in five spins in the base game says so little: the shape of the outcome is decided almost entirely inside a feature that most spins never reach.

Reading the figure at your operator

  • Relax Gaming titles are also supplied in reduced configurations. The panel inside the game is where the active figure is stated.
  • Check the feature-buy return separately if you intend to use it — it is a different number from the base game on this title, and that is unusual enough to be worth confirming.
  • Feature buys are not offered in every market. Where local rules prohibit them, the 96.50% route does not exist and only the base configuration applies.

Questions people actually ask about this game

What is the Money Train 3 RTP? 96.10% in the base game and 96.50% on all four feature-buy options, as published by Relax Gaming.

Is Money Train 3 better than Money Train 2? Not by return. Money Train 2 published 98% against 96.10% here. The third game doubles the ceiling instead.

Is buying the bonus worth it? The published return is better, the amount committed per event is far larger. Those are separate questions and only the first one has a published answer.

Can the 100,000x actually be reached? Yes — it is a round-ending rule rather than a modelled estimate. How often is not published.
