Three published configurations, and the gap between them is real money
The Dog House ships in more than one certified maths version. 96.51% is the top one and the figure on this sheet; a reduced setting around 95.5% is documented for the original, and the Megaways version is documented at 96.55%, 95.53% and 94.55%. An operator picks one at integration and nothing on screen changes.
Worth doing the arithmetic once. At 96.55% the house edge is 3.45%; at 94.55% it is 5.45%. Over $1,000 of turnover — which a 20-cent spin reaches in about 5,000 spins — that is $34.50 against $54.50 in expected cost. Same dogs, same fence, same animations, 58% more expensive.
This is the single most useful minute you can spend on this game, and it takes place before the first bet: open the panel, read the figure.
The original has no feature buy, and that is a design choice
You cannot buy into the free spins on The Dog House. Three scatters have to arrive on their own, and reports of the wait run from under a hundred spins to several hundred. Pragmatic Play later built Dog or Alive specifically with purchase options, which is the studio's own acknowledgement that the original asks for patience the modern audience often does not have.
The mechanic that made it famous is narrow and effective: wilds carry 2x or 3x multipliers, and in free spins they stick to the reel for the whole round. Multiple sticky wilds in one win multiply against each other rather than adding — three 3x wilds make 27x, not 9x. That compounding is where the 6,750x ceiling comes from, and it is also why the feature either does very little or a great deal.
The Megaways version is not simply a bigger original

One point where listings disagree: several describe the Megaways version as having a horizontal bonus reel and cascading symbols, which every Megaways game is assumed to carry. A detailed hands-on review states flatly that this one has neither, in the base game or the feature. We have corrected our own sheet to drop the disputed claims rather than pick a side — if you open the game, the top of the board settles it in two seconds.
A series that now sells RTP as a feature
There are around ten Dog House games. The recent ones are marketed under "Enhanced RTP" labels with figures near 98%, which is a notable shift: the studio has started treating the return itself as a selling point rather than a technical footnote.
Read those figures the same way as any other. A 98% headline is the top configuration, an operator can still integrate a lower one, and a higher return says nothing about volatility — several of the enhanced titles carry the maximum 5/5 rating, meaning the better average arrives in rarer pieces.

What is The Dog House RTP? 96.51% in the top configuration. Reduced versions exist and only the in-game panel tells you which one you have.
Can I buy the bonus? Not on the original. The Megaways version and several later titles in the series offer it where the market permits.
Do the wild multipliers add or multiply? They multiply against each other, which is why the feature can resolve far above what the individual values suggest.
